New chair cheer for disabled girl

A donation of £1,000 from Eldon Square helped to helped to purchase a wheelchair for Samantha from Whitley Bay.

Teenager Samantha McDine should have an extra-special feeling the next time she goes to Eldon Square.

Samantha has cerebral palsy as well as sight and hearing impairments and needed a new wheelchair to help her get around, and thanks to Eldon Square and the Sunshine Fund that’s exactly what she now has.

The chunky wheels on Samantha ’s new chair mean for the first time her mum Liz, can push her on to the beach and it also means Northern Counties School pupil Samantha can enjoy breathing in the sea air with her sisters Vicki, Natalie, and Sophie.

Jo Harris, manager of the Sunshine Fund, said she wanted to thank Eldon Square’s continuing generosity on behalf of everyone at charity.

She said: “Every year Eldon Square donate money to the Fund and this year we had earmarked something that the money would go on. I am sure Samantha and her family would join me in wishing Eldon Square our thanks for this donation and their continued support for the Fund.”
