Boy is wheely getting around
A new trike means a new lease of life for Dylan Mitchell.
Dylan suffers from Lowry syndrome, which means he is severely mentally and physically handicapped and suffers from speech problems. His condition also affects his heart, which can make even walking tiring for him, but he still loves to get out and about.
Thanks to a grant from the Sunshine Fund Dylan’s grandparents were able to afford to replace a trike that Dylan had outgrown.
Specially adapted trikes are easy for children like Dylan to use. They require little effort to move, and help to give a child with low mobility the independence and movement that they crave.
Dylan’s grandfather, Bob, said “It’s excellent we got the grant. The tricycle allows Dylan to exercise and have some independence. It helps us in that we see him out and about enjoying himself. That’s so important to us. If he’s happy that’s all we wish for.
