Trike sparks smiles

Alisha Robinson is delighted with her new trike, and can now peddle away with a huge smile on her face, thanks to a generous donation from Newcastle based company, Graphite Resources.

Alisha’s mum, Lynne, applied to the Sunshine Fund for a trike because her daugher suffers from Kabuki Syndrome, visual and hearing impairment and low muscle tone.

She told the Sunshine Fund, “She can crawl but outside she is confined to a wheelchair and she is getting a little bit too heavy for me to carry her now.”

“Alisha loves the trike. It has given her a new lease of life as it is a different way for her to get around instead of being stuck in a wheelchair.

“It also helps her build her muscle tone which is very low and means she gets tired easily.

The £800 donation which paid for Alisha ’s new trike, was raised by Newcastle-based Graphite Resources, when they decided to raise money for a local charity rather than buy Christmas cards for their colleagues and clients.

Chief financial officer David Young said: “We are thrilled to be able to help in this way and hope Alisha continues to enjoy the trike”

“We all have families and understand how important it is for children to be happy and get as much out of life as possible.”

“As a company we want to make a difference to people and we are pleased to have been able to do that.”
