Ruby shines on her trike
Ruby Ruvino was delighted when she received a grant for a trike from the Sunshine Fund.
Ruby has cerebral palsy and has never been able to push the pedals on a regular bike. She also finds walking very difficult but now has a new-found freedom.
Mum Lisa, said: “Ruby absolutely loves the trike and she screams with pleasure when she is on it. She is a different little girl now.
“In terms of physio it will definitely help and give Ruby the exercise she needs, but just as importantly she can now join in and play outside with her sister.
“The first time that Ruby went riding she said that she now felt the same as other children.”
Jo Harris, Sunshine Fund manager, said: “I am so thrilled that Ruby is getting so much pleasure out of her new trike. It now means that Ruby can join in with her sister and other children and not feel left out.
“Ruby’s mum has said that it has made so much difference and Ruby now has her own independence. This is what the Sunshine Fund is all about – enhancing the lives of North East children and really making a difference.”
