Charity Golf Day

Venue: The Northumberland Golf Club

Golfers will be teeing-off in a special competition to raise money for disabled youngsters. The event, organised by the Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund and Golf North East, could raise thousands of pounds to help provide life-changing equipment to scores of disadvantaged children in the region.

The golf day, set to take place on May 21, will see sportsmen and women take to the course in aid of the North East’s most needy youngsters.

It will be hosted at the prestigious Northumberland Golf Club, in Gosforth Park, Newcastle, regarded as one of the finest in the region.

Teams of four are being invited to enter at a cost of £350 per team.

Golfers will enjoy a hot bacon sandwich and a cup of tea or coffee on arrival before their round.

There will be free golf balls included in a complimentary goody bag for every player, as well as a two-course dinner, a raffle and an awards presentation for the top teams, following the competition.

There will also be an opportunity to win an A3 Cabriolet Audi car, supplied by Tyneside Audi, for a hole-in-one competition.

The Golf Day is one of the Sunshine Fund’s flagship annual events. It is hoped the event will hit the Fund’s target of around £8,000 - on par with last year.

The Sunshine Fund makes a massive difference to the lives of disabled and seriously ill children in the North East through the provision of essential equipment, learning aids and custom-built apparatus.

It is able to provide grants through the fundraising efforts of Chronicle readers and the support of many local businesses.
